One of the main goals of Open Door is to love others, and in loving others, we try to offer assistance to meet physical and spiritual needs beyond our church walls.
There are several outreach opportunities here.
If you’d like to help out, or are in need of any assistance, please contact us.
Food Service Ministry-monthly
Serves over 30 local families with boxes of food each month.
Serve The City-one week each summer
Each summer our church partners with Southside Baptist Church and other congregations for a weeklong labor of love. It is with the intention of loving our neighborhoods, spreading good will and kindness and touching the community through various service projects which includes painting and landscaping at local schools, distributing meals to fire and rescue workers, hosting a Backyard Kids Club in the park, Street Evangelism and a myriad of other ways to better our community and spread the love of Jesus.
VBS-one week each summer
We believe that “children are wet cement, therefore we must make the right impression on them.” During their formidable years, we at ODC would like to impress the value, worth, dignity and uniqueness of each and every child. They need to know that they are deeply loved and treasured by our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus. Through Bible stories, crafts and activities the love of God is shared with them on a level that they can understand.
Back to School Clothes Exchange-August
Each August we host a Back to School clothes exchange open to everyone in our community. In the weeks prior to this event, gently used clothing donations are collected from our members and those outside ODC. Clothing is sorted and available on a first come first serve basis on a designated Saturday in August. The goal is to help families with back to school expenses Adult clothing is available as well.
Operation Christmas Child-Fall/winter
In the fall of the year members fill shoeboxes with small items to be distributed to children all over the globe that may not have any other Christmas experience. Boxes are collected and sent to distribution centers affiliated with Samaritan’s Purse.
