Yesterday in the church office, an apparent evil lurked in the corner. It found its way through our chambers, and found something to feast upon. Tasty little bugs.
So being the man’s man that I am, I grabbed aforementioned snake by the neck (which is basically its whole body, right?). And took it outside for his execution. I threw him on the ground! And I stomped his head into the ground.
You can imagine how manly I felt…”Harold the Snake Smasher.” Kinda rolls off the forked tongue, right? (I got jokes).
Ok, so maybe I’m exaggerating a little bit. The snake may or may not have been 8 inches long and stuck in a super sticky bug trap, but I still picked it up and destroyed its mortal frame.
The point I’m trying to make?
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
I just want to remind you all that Christ’s heel was bruised by sin. And last time I checked, He wasn’t Achilles.
Just like I bruised (and crushed) that snake’s head, Jesus bruised sin/death/Satan’s head. And last time I checked, bruising someone’s head gives them a concussion and they can’t function.
Satan’s been weakened. He’s dizzy. He has a concussion because of what Christ did at the cross.
Let’s live in that victory.
Receive the win.
And keep crushing snakes.
