RECORDS CAN BE DESTROYED
“…Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past.” Romans 3:25 (NLT)
If you searched your name on the internet right now, you could access numerous records that hold the information to your past. Court records, jail records, debt records, and now with social media there can even be a record of wrongs we commit against others. There is history attached to our names. Children on the other hand may have a record of their birth and possibly a few medical records but by virtue of their limitations and naiveté they have a clean slate. Youths and adults on the other hand have all made mistakes. Everyone has a record of some sort because everyone makes mistakes.
No one is perfect. We all are deserving of punishment –there is NO ONE who has ever had a perfect record. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, He erases the defective part of our history. He makes our life new. He paid our fines, took our penalty, and wiped away every smidgeon of sin. We are made right with God through the blood of Jesus. That means His blood washes over every record of wrong against us and deletes it. Our sins have been covered up by His blood. As a born again believer, if it were possible to type a name in Heaven’s data bank, the only one that would come up is Child of the Most High God.
Practical Application: Does the “replay” button of your past keep you from enjoying the present? Know today that all records of sin have been destroyed. Pray this prayer: Father I choose to believe your word that as far as the east is from the west that is how far you have removed my sins from me. You are a loving forgiving Father who made a way through Christ to give me a second chance. Free me once and for all from a guilty conscience by accepting the sacrifice of your Son Jesus. Amen.
