And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near.—Ephesians 2:17
One of the most important aspects of our lives is the superior peace that comes from our Lord and fills our spirits and souls. We can lose our peace and become distressed when facing difficult situations. We can even bring affliction on ourselves when we are unforgiving, unloving, or resentful.
It is important to know that we cannot have the peace of God until we first have peace with God. We must put aside circumstances we are currently facing, in particular those that distress us, and ask our Lord for peace. Peace must prevail.
God’s peace is so powerful that it supersedes all anguish. His peace will take over all uncertainty and concerns. We need to always trust in Him that the current situation shall pass even if we don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is during these pressing moments that we must remain faithful. We must develop a lifestyle of making the Lord our refuge. It is then that we will begin to live in the peace of God.
