And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. —Mark 16:15
“He”…our Resurrected Savior and Friend, whose love is unconditional and everlasting, the One who, according to II Peter 1:3 has given us everything we need for life and Godliness…”He” died once and for all and is a great light in a dark world. “He” has given us a command—not a suggestion—to reach the lost.
Let us pursue holiness with all diligence, realizing that without holiness we cannot see God and that when we see Him we will be like Him. Let us position ourselves so that we can “see” Jesus, be like Him, love like Him, serve like Him, and be moved by the things that move His heart. Being imitators of Christ, let us allow His light to so shine within us that we will draw the world to Him.
He doesn’t just love—He is love. To be able to love we must first know Him. Everything we do must be motivated by love. Do we love enough to be inconvenienced by the needs of others? Our lives do not belong to us, but we were purchased with a great price. He will know that we belong to Him because we obey Him.
Jesus’ command to preach the gospel to every creature, again, is not optional. The only way it will be effective is if we truly love. His yoke is easy, His burden is light. Reaching the lost is a responsibility and privilege Christ has given to us, as well as the ability and power to accomplish this task.
Let us go out and be light and salt to a lost world. Let us see the name of Jesus glorified throughout the world. Today is the day of salvation!
