Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:16
I don’t think I would be amiss in saying everyone has probably experienced the feeling of hopelessness in their lives at some point.
I think about Mary and Joseph after that miraculous visitation by an angel of God telling Mary she would bear the Savior. I think about a young unmarried girl telling her parents and her fiancée that she was going to have a child who would save the world.
Joseph had a choice to make. According to Jewish law, Mary could have been stoned to death. But God had a plan and a purpose. An angel appeared to Joseph telling him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife. Both Mary and Joseph believed and trusted God in the midst of a difficult (impossible in the natural) circumstance. Because of their decision to put their faith in God, the promised Savior was born to be a light in the midst of darkness. With Him, hope, peace, and joy were born into a fallen world.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have experienced the peace, hope, and joy the world experienced that night when a tiny baby boy was born in a lowly manger.
Right now you may be going through what seems like an impossible situation. Turn to the One who turns the impossible into the possible. In Christ we have a hope that can never be disappointed and a love that cannot be measured.
