Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments… —Deuteronomy 7:9
Christmas is always a special time to stop, reflect, and embrace the truth of God’s unwavering faithfulness towards us. We all go through storms and trials at some point along this journey of life. There are storms that produce just a little disturbance, and then there are storms that seem to bring complete destruction. There may be times during the storm that we doubt God is even present. Yet the truth has a way of standing strong and that is what we need to cling to.
He is God; He is faithful; He does love us. I venture back to the garden when God made His promise to send Jesus and make right all that went wrong. Thousands of years passed, and I am sure hope was dimming, but this faithful God never lies. He promised and He delivered Jesus unto us. He sent the very Word of God, Truth in the flesh, to destroy the work of the devil and restore us to Himself.
So when that storm comes, and we begin to doubt, He boldly reminds us that He is the Hope we have as an anchor of our souls, both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19). He can be trusted. He has kept covenant with us. His faithfulness fuels our love for Him and that love compels us to honor His word and His commandments.
